A Christmas poem

The flicker of a candle

Awakens the evening shadow

Christmas reveals itself with dazzle, dazzle, dazzle

Dress the trees with baubles and drape them with

Fairy lights

As they glisten ~ what a wondrous sight

A season of sentiment where one values togetherness

Of family, friends~ a time well spent

Light hearted vibes spread through the walls

The walls of our neighbours

To the hearts of our loved ones

The season for giving is planted in each soul

A soul to embrace those who seek comfort

Weathered by hardship

For

Love is powerful

Love is compassion

Love is invincible

Warming us from the mini corner of our heart

To the tip of our twinkling toes

May the starry skies in your eyes

Melt away the worries and the woes

May blessings come your way

And happiness follow.

~Mh

I’ll catch you from falling…

I’ll catch you from falling

into the abyss of your fears

Relieve your heartache

And hear

The echoing sound of your

Drumming thoughts

Colliding with

Feelings of distraught

A fragile state of mind

Dodging bullets coming your way

Your balance is tested

I’ll shield them from you

Come what may

Don’t be scared

I am here

To block the monsters

Chasing after your pride

No need to hide

No need to hide

Let the power of love

Shatter the prison of your trapped soul

You are not alone

Tread the earth with care

As beauty thrives everywhere

Your worthiness lights up the skies

I see you for you within those wise eyes.

This is a poem I wrote a couple years ago. It was written for a friend of mine who was going through a difficult time. I believe we are all in that position where we feel life is testing us and we are constantly trying to dodge obstacles that come our way. It’s quite a heavy poem but I wanted to express the inner power we can yield for those who are struggling and are vulnerable, especially during these times we are living in. I hope this poem has comforted you and made you feel you are not alone in this battle of hardship. Take care of eachother and take care of yourselves. God bless.

‘Every little action creates an effect: we are all interconnected’

‘Every little action creates an effect: we are all interconnected’. This is quoted by Yehuda Berg and it caught my attention. With Covid -19 cloud hanging over our heads, let us not lose hopelessness and forget that we are all interconnected. It is in our small actions, our behaviour that affects the whole. As quoted by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso:

‘We are all interconnected in a web of kindness from which it is impossible to separate ourselves’

This interconnectedness keeps us going in our lives, as I like to envisage it, we come from the same vine. From the moment we start our day, each and every one us, live for one another, I believe. Even in times of hardship, empathy and compassion are tools for us to keep one another grounded, connected and above all helps us to get through our days with confidence, thereby encompassing a feeling everything will be alright.

‘Every person, place and thing on this planet is interconnected with love. I am at home in the universe’ Louise Hay

As Louise Hay mentions, we are interconnected with love. The moment a baby is born and enters this world, love is connected between the mother and child. A love so strong between them is also represented among our relationships with our wider network of friends and family. Beyond the families and friends, we are interconnected with the wider community. This love runs like a river wherever we go. It has no boundaries. Let’s see the bright side of life and shed light in the darker places. For it’s not the end of the world, the world keeps spinning. Even when we experience pain, we shoulder it together. Even when we experience joy, we rejoice together.

‘Compassion is our deepest nature. It arises from our interconnection with all things’ Buddhist proverb

The enchanted New Forest

Hello everybody, I thought I’d share my experience in the wonderful New Forest with you and how magical it was and super soul nourishing. I hope my words can allow your imagination to paint a picture. I hope you enjoy this little travel log.

Once I entered New Forest, rich shades of emerald green flourishes through the area as tall trees tower you, so grand in stature. It’s a whole level of escapism as the nature absorbs you into a world where you feel free to marvel at the beauty boundlessly sprawled everywhere you go. When you walk into some parts of New forest, mosses blanket the earth, as though a red carpet converted green is laid before you. The different types of trees all shapes and sizes carry shimmering leaves of their own, fluttering beneath the warm breeze.

When we went biking (electric bikes rental is highly recommended), riding under tunnels of trees arching towards each other, as though parading your entrance, I smile with the air blowing in my face. Never have I felt so much comfort being immersed in the winding trails and roads leading me to experience the thrill of unexpected picturesque landscapes before my eyes. We encountered wild horses on the side roads and o how beautiful they were! They looked like they were part of the entire setting, blending in with the enchanted fields they grazed from. Life could not look any simpler and satisfying than to see a young baby horse lie by its mother on the road, soaking in the sun.

The wild horses were definitely my highlight. Such a majestic animal filled with such strength and poise that makes them so beautiful and truly worthy of admiration. I could not take my eyes of them, especially when they galloped in herds. A feeling of tribe, family filled my heart with such warmth, it almost brought tears to my eyes. The freeness when they galloped together was breathtaking as though they are born to run wild with each other, survive with each other and never be apart. I could sense their dignified personalities as they galloped freely into the afternoon sunset. At one point a group of them encased in golden sunlight galloped towards me and my brother. It was magical. They stopped by us and I stroked the leader of the pack; an exquisite, striking black horse. This intimate moment ignited the depth of character and underlying mystery horses hold, the sensitive nature they possess toward humanity and their home; endless fields of greens and golds. This entire experience was a healing one. Being with nature is so good for our health and our soul. And having been able to also bear witness to my favourite animals was a true blessing I will cherish in my heart forever. Thank you New Forest. And I hope you enjoyed this blog post.
